The medical industry does not have health care in orthopedics, only reactive care for pain or debility. SustainAbility PT fills that void. Our expertise is in understanding how healthy your moving parts are and how well your brain can use them. This allows us to offer something different:
Restoration of lost capacity. Comprehensive rehabilitation. Prevention.
Restoration
If physical therapy has failed you or if you feel like you've tried everything, our restoration services potentially hold the missing pieces to the improvement you are looking for.
SustainAbility PT provides the orthopedic second opinion you didn't know you needed. Instead of contradicting your physician, we provide the "yes, and" second opinion that provides new insight and hope for what you can do about the problem.
The body adapts to the demands put upon it...
This fundamental law of nature means to us at SustainAbility that there is always hope because better is always an option. Restoring your lost capacities implies that your brain will have more options for how you can effectively use your body. This means that you can avoid overuse conditions, prepare yourself for fitness training after periods of underuse, and even develop a revitalized body after abusing it with heavy labor, sports, or poor posture and body mechanics.
SustainAbility's restorative program emphasizes two types of renewal strategies:
Help you regain lost essential capacities of the movement system
Guide you in learning a balanced way of using your body in everyday life

If you have arthritis, our restorative services can help to slow, stop, or even reverse the degenerative process. This is premier arthritis care.
Beyond arthritis, if you have ever experienced any of the following, restorative services may help:
Been told by a specialist, "There's nothing we can do for you."
The need to look for a second opinion
Failed physical therapy
Motion at one of your joints is blocked with a pinch, jam, or sharp pain ("It hurts when I do this...")
You don't feel exercises where you are supposed to (ie.- can't feel your glutes when you squat)
Pain increases when you try to do exercise
Pain increases when you try to do the activities that you need or want to do
Pain onset was "out of the blue"
Discomfort due to feeling tight all the time
An old injury that "just hasn't been the same" since it occurred
Feeling "trapped" inside your own body
Chronic pain in your muscles or joints
...and more
Examples of individuals with meaningful improvements from SustainAbility's restorative techniques:
Retiree wanting to maintain an exercise routine that doesn't create pain or tightness
14-year-old athlete able to improve hip impingement and avoid surgery
Late-20's fitness athlete who had reconstructive surgery after major knee trauma in high school
40-year-old who can't remember a time when not in pain or seeing medical specialists for back pain
50-year-old Iron Man athlete who thought his hip pain couldn't improve (it did! and he still was able to compete)
70-year-old told they needed a knee replacement, but able to achieve a pain-free state
Rehabilitation
After a traumatic injury or surgery
We provide guidance through your healing process and the retraining of function. Our focus for functional training is on the assurance that your body regains meaningful movement capabilities in the injured tissues, not learning how to get back to your activities by compensating around the injury. SustainAbility is your alternative to the medical-industrial complex to get the high-quality care you deserve. Even if you have already finished physical therapy, our strategies can help you get back the function that is still missing.
One-on-one, individualized rehabilitation is difficult to find these days. This is the only kind of care you will find with us.
Examples of Injuries that we treat:
Joint or ligament sprains
Muscle Strains
Motor Vehicle Accidents and Whiplash
Sports Injuries
Post-fracture care
Ligament Tears: non-operative or post-surgical repair
Muscle or Tendon Tears: non-operative or post-surgical repair
Hernias
Diastasis recti and the post-partum abdomen
Back injury or neck Injury such as disc herniation, compression fracture, or spondylolisthesis
and more...
Resilience
The human-built, modern environment comes with many benefits but also has many unintended consequences. Much like artificial food is quick, easy, and delicious but can create chronic disease, the artificial, modern world also contributes to degenerative conditions of your movement system.
The Mission: To achieve and maintain the body's capacity for movement that is sufficient for you to participate in all the activity that matters to you through the course of your life.
Much like we must invest in our health to improve our healthspan (and not just lifespan), we must invest in the functionality of our movement system to prevent disability as we age.
The Strategy:
Relearn the most fundamental ways to use your body, establishing movement practices and habits to build the mobility and stability of your body. If your body has barriers to accomplishing this, we will help you restore these capacities along the way.
Assess the movement of all the joints individually, how well they integrate together, and help you regain any lost functions. Then you can build upon these foundations to build strength or flexibility to perform at your best whatever your sport, fitness, or activity goals are.
